A detailed soil test report will show you the levels of your MACRO and MICRO nutrients, your Organic Matter, and every bit as important, your CEC#.

Most common macronutrients are Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K)

Some of the micronutrients are Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Chlorine (Cl) and Cobalt (Co).

The Cation Exchange Capacity Number (CEC#) is every bit as important as the micro and macro nutrient numbers.   The ideal CEC# for turf grasses can range from 15 to 25.    When your CEC# falls in that range, all of your macronutrients and micronutrients are being used to their fullest potential and efficiency.   When your CEC# is below 15, your nutrients are not being fully utilized and can be leached into the soil and unavailable.   Your macro and micro nutrient numbers can be spot on, but with a low CEC#, your lawn can look extremely deficient and nutrient poor.
